Gridsight raises $25.8M Series B
Insight Partners led the round, with participation from Galvanize and existing investors Airtree, Energy Transition Ventures and Aera VC. It follows a A$7.5M Series A 16 months earlier, led by Airtree. Valuation has not been disclosed. The money is earmarked for expanding the U.S. team and utility customer base over the coming year, alongside continued growth in Australia. Gridsight, founded in Sydney in 2020, sells software that gives utilities a view of spare network capacity and tools to act on it in real time. At Endeavour Energy, the platform helped double household solar export capacity from 5kW to 10kW, in a program expected to unlock more than $100 million in customer value and 600MW of extra solar capacity. US utility Xcel Energy is already a partner. CEO Brendan Banfield says as much as three-quarters of grid capacity goes unused on average. For AI founders, this is a sign of where grid-software money is going. Data centre demand is straining networks, and utilities need to extract more capacity from existing infrastructure. Vendors that sell models and digital twins to utilities, with measurable results from live deployments, are drawing late-stage investors from large software funds.
