Flam raises $40M Series B
QED Investors led the round. Claypond Capital, Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan and actor Shah Rukh Khan joined, and existing backers RTP Global and Dovetail increased their stakes. Valuation was not disclosed. The company says the money will go to research on its AI models, a wider product line and global enterprise sales. Flam was founded in 2021 by Shourya Agarwal. It is based in San Francisco, with teams in India and Japan. It reports more than 100 enterprise customers, including Google, Samsung, Hyundai and Salesforce, and holds more than 15 patents. Its three products are Flicks, interactive video that swaps a person, product or scene during playback. Airboards, app-less 3D camera experiences. And Visual Agents, conversational avatars. The company claims a 50-millisecond time-to-first-buffer, so interactive elements do not add noticeable load time. Most generative AI content companies compete on producing more video or images. Flam is betting on a different layer: content the viewer can change and respond to. For founders, the round suggests investors will fund delivery infrastructure and compression, not only model quality. It also shows that enterprise use cases such as marketing, support and sales can anchor a content business.
