OpenRouter raises $113M Series B at $1.3B led by CapitalG
The round was announced on May 26, 2026. The company did not disclose the valuation. The New York Times reported the roughly $1.3 billion post-money figure. PitchBook estimated the prior mark at $547 million, after a $40 million Series A in June 2025. NVentures, ServiceNow Ventures, MongoDB Ventures, Snowflake Ventures and Databricks Ventures joined, alongside returning backers Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures. Weekly token volume rose fivefold in six months. The March date in the earlier blurb was wrong, and so was the five-month gap. Stripe confirmed on August 19 that it is acquiring the company. The New York Times put the price at $7.5 billion, and Axios said above $8 billion. Neither company has confirmed an exact figure. The Information reported annualized revenue of about $140 million. Databricks, an investor in the round, also reportedly made its own bid. For AI founders, the routing layer repriced more than fivefold in three months. The buyer is a payments company, not a model lab. Teams that depend on a single gateway for model access and billing should check how neutrality and pricing terms hold up under new ownership. They should also keep a second routing option ready.
