Noxtua raises $116M+ Series C led by legal publisher C.H.BECK
The round was announced on September 23, 2026, and parts of it work as a secondary sale. Existing holders Global Brain, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, CMS, Dentons and angel Dominik Schiener are leaving the cap table. CMS and Dentons are expected to remain customers. The deal is C.H.BECK's largest investment to date, and it already led the 2025 Series B of about €80M. MANZ had run a joint Austrian workspace with Noxtua since 2025 before taking equity. Noxtua sells jurisdiction-specific legal workspaces built on licensed publisher content. C.H.BECK's beck-online database holds more than 60 million documents. The company reports over 30,000 users and about 100 staff across six European offices. C.H.BECK's executive board member Klaus Weber said a qualified majority was needed to tie the publisher's product strategy to the platform. The structure is a counterpoint to US-style legal AI funding. Harvey and Legora have raised far larger rounds, with Legora's $550M Series D in March 2026 at a $5.55B valuation. For AI founders, the lesson is that owners of proprietary data can demand control, not just a licensing fee, when a vertical product depends on their content. Founders in regulated or content-heavy fields should expect that trade between capital and independence.
