Instinct raises $250M Series B at $2.5B, a month before its $1B Series C
Shinn disclosed the Series B to The Wall Street Journal, and outlets reported it on August 26. It took total funding to about $350M, following a seed round led by Conviction and Greenoaks and a $75M Series A led by Kleiner Perkins. The company was four months old at the time. The Series C was announced on September 28. TFN counts total funding at roughly $1.35B. Instinct is still in early access and has not shared user numbers or growth metrics. The product is an invite-only agent that works across a user's apps and accounts through text and calls. The company has since updated a privacy policy that TechCrunch criticized in August. For founders, the pricing signal is the point. Two rounds from overlapping top-tier investors, Benchmark in both, moved the valuation fourfold on a product with no public traction data. Consumer agent startups can now expect investors to price category position and team pedigree ahead of usage evidence, but that also raises the bar. A $10B mark sets expectations for retention and task-completion data that the company has not yet shown. Rivals raising on weaker terms will be measured against it.
