Granola raises $125M Series C at $1.5B
The announcement came on March 25, which pins down the date the earlier blurb left open. Danny Rimer of Index Ventures led the round, Mamoon Hamid of Kleiner Perkins took part, and existing backers Lightspeed, Spark and NFDG returned. Total funding is now $192 million, and the valuation is six times the $250 million of less than a year earlier. The raise came with product launches: Spaces, which lets teams organize and share notes with granular access controls, and an AI chat inside Spaces for querying meeting data across conversations. Expanded personal and enterprise APIs also shipped. The London company is pitching itself as more than a note-taker. Customers include Vanta, Gusto, Thumbtack, Asana, Cursor, Lovable, Decagon and Mistral AI. Growth has stayed almost entirely word of mouth, with individual users adopting it first, and the company is now building team features to spread across whole organizations. Granola has not disclosed its ARR. For founders, the lesson is about distribution and the next layer of the product. A tool that spreads bottom-up can reach a unicorn valuation fast, but scaling enterprise sales and holding off incumbents that could add similar features will be the test. The context-layer pitch, where transcripts feed other AI tools through APIs, is one way to build defensibility beyond the app itself.
