AIR Security raises $50M for an AI-agent firewall
The $50M came in two seed pieces. Sequoia Capital led an initial $10M, and Greenoaks led a $40M follow-on that closed within weeks. Swish Ventures and Netz also joined, along with angels including Wiz co-founder Yinon Costica and former White House cyber adviser Anne Neuberger. Founded in February 2026 by CEO Yair Saban and CTO Niv Hoffman, both Unit 8200 alumni, the company came out of stealth on September 1. The product maps agents running across endpoints, cloud accounts and SaaS apps, then keeps re-checking the skills, plugins and MCP servers they depend on, since an approved component can change later. Untrusted tools and injected instructions are blocked at runtime. The company also runs a marketplace of pre-vetted add-ons. Its own research found more than 17,800 public add-ons, covering 6.7 million installs, that pull from untrusted external instruction sources. It also found skills posing as Anthropic and OpenAI. Reports cite more than 20 customers. For AI startups, agent supply-chain risk is becoming a procurement question. Enterprise buyers will likely ask what plugins and tools an agent can load and how they get revoked. The open issue is whether companies buy a standalone firewall for agent context or wait for the major AI platforms to bundle that protection. Saban expects significant sales next year and further fundraising.
