Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company raises $40M Series A
Ribbit Capital led the round, with First Harmonic participating. An earlier $15 million seed round led by NFDG brings total funding to $55 million. The new money is meant to extend audits, standards and insurance from agents to frontier models. Valuation was not disclosed. The product is AIUC-1, a standard for AI agents. It tests for risks such as jailbreaks, hallucinations and data leaks, using roughly 5,000 risk and attack combinations tailored to the type of business. Agents are audited independently and recertified quarterly. Cursor, ElevenLabs, Harvey, KPMG, Lovable, UiPath and Fin have certified against it. Coverage is tied to audit results: an agent that passes certification can get insured, and one that fails cannot. For founders selling agents into large companies, this points to a likely procurement requirement. Enterprises increasingly ask vendors to show compliance before deploying AI tools internally. A third-party certificate with insurance behind it could shorten security reviews, while a failed audit could stall deals. Teams building agents may want to run the AIUC-1 criteria against their own products before a buyer asks.
