Mobility Global secures $2B in debt financing
The deal is three tranches of senior notes: $650M at 5.050% due 2029, $650M at 5.450% due 2031, and $700M at 6.050% due 2036. They were sold to institutional buyers under Rule 144A and Regulation S. A $500M senior unsecured revolving credit facility sits alongside the notes. Proceeds are held in escrow until separation-related conditions are met. Afterward, they fund a cash payment to S&P Global for the assets and entities being transferred. This is not a venture-style round. Mobility Global is the holding company for S&P Global's Mobility division, whose portfolio includes CARFAX, automotiveMastermind, Polk Automotive Solutions and Market Scan. S&P Global planned the spin-off for July 1, with shares to trade on the NYSE as MBGL. The Crunchbase "venture funding" total therefore reflects a corporate carve-out, not outside investors backing a startup. For AI founders, the deal shows how data-heavy businesses are valued and financed. The new company starts with this debt on its balance sheet. That makes proprietary vehicle data an asset that can carry leverage, a point for startups selling into automotive and insurance. Founders competing with incumbents like this should expect them to spend on debt service and cash flow discipline.
