Superluminal Medicines raises $65.5M Series B
Company announcements put the round at $60M, so the $65.5M in Crunchbase's record likely reflects a different tally. BVF Partners led the oversubscribed financing. Deep Track Capital and Perceptive Advisors joined as new investors. Returning backers RA Capital, Insight Partners, NVIDIA, Catalio, Eli Lilly, Cooley and Gaingels also took part. Valuation was not disclosed. The money is for a selective, biased MC4R agonist aimed at rare genetic obesity, including Bardet-Biedl syndrome and hypothalamic obesity. The company expects to start a Phase 1 trial by the end of 2026. Prader-Willi syndrome and use alongside GLP-1 drugs in broader obesity are possible later indications. Funds also go to other pipeline programs and more GPCR-targeted small molecules for endocrine and cardiometabolic disease. The Series B follows a $120M Series A in 2024 and a roughly $33M seed in 2023. Lilly is both an equity investor and a research collaborator. For AI founders, this is a case of a platform company moving to a clinical asset. The platform combines automated cryo-EM structure generation, co-folding models, de novo design and ADME and toxicity prediction. Investors are now funding it on whether it produces a drug that enters human trials, not on model benchmarks. Strategic backers such as NVIDIA and Lilly also show how compute and pharma partners can sit on the same cap table.
