Render raises $100M at $1.5B as vibe-coded apps need somewhere to run
The round was announced on February 17, 2026, as an extension of a Series C that closed in January 2025. Georgian led both deals. Addition, Bessemer, General Catalyst and 01 Advisors also took part, so the blurb's attribution to General Catalyst and Bessemer as leads is inaccurate. Total funding now stands at $258M. CEO Anurag Goel told CNBC that revenue growth is well above 100%. The company has about 100 employees and more than 4.5 million developers, with over 250,000 joining each month. Render says the money goes toward a unified runtime for AI apps and agents. That includes workflows, object storage, managed sandboxes, a shared filesystem and an AI gateway. Customers include Base44, Cognition and Luminai. Render runs mainly on AWS and Google Cloud, and it is testing its own servers to cut costs. That adds capacity risk if supply falls short of demand. For AI founders, deployment is becoming a product category of its own as AI-written code outpaces teams' ability to run it. Stateful, long-running agent workloads are poorly served by hyperscaler defaults. Render is pitching one vendor in place of stitched-together tooling. Teams choosing a host should weigh that convenience against dependence on a mid-sized provider that itself sits on larger clouds.
