Collective raises $100M for AI financial operating system for solo businesses
Collective, a San Francisco company that describes itself as an AI-native financial operating system for solo businesses, announced $100 million in new funding on October 29, 2026. The total splits into a $40 million Series B equity round and a separate $60 million growth facility from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund. Unite.AI reported that breakdown, and the company's PR Newswire release carries the same figures.
General Catalyst, QED Investors and Gradient Ventures led the Series B, with Intuit Ventures, FT Partners and SemperVirens also participating. Collective says the facility will fund customer acquisition, while the equity will accelerate product work in banking and insurance. The company also plans to serve businesses with employees and deepen automation across accounting, tax and payroll. An earlier $50 million raise was announced in July 2023, according to Securities.io.
Collective says annual recurring revenue is growing 120% year over year, but it has not published an absolute ARR figure. It estimates members have saved $350 million in taxes to date, and some of its highest-income members save as much as $40,000 a year, according to Pulse2. The company says its AI support operation resolves about 50% of requests autonomously with a 4.5-star satisfaction rating. The release cites roughly 32 million US solo businesses producing close to $2 trillion in annual revenue, though other coverage uses about 30 million.
Why it matters
For founders building vertical AI, the structure is the notable part. Roughly 60% of the raise is growth capital tied to customer acquisition rather than new equity, which can stretch runway without a full priced round. Startups targeting small-business segments can point to the disclosed growth rate and member savings as proof points. The release omits acquisition costs, retention and absolute revenue, which investors will ask about.
For companies selling into solo owners, the bundle is the signal. Collective combines bookkeeping, payroll, tax, insurance and business formation in one product, so single-function vendors now compete with an automated back office. For funders, the facility shows that capital providers are willing to finance measurable customer value rather than general expansion.
