Twelve Labs raises $100M Series B led by NEA and Naver Ventures
The round closed on July 1, 2026. Amazon, Radical Ventures, Korea Investment Partners, Index Ventures and Quadrille Capital took part, and Red Bull Ventures came in as a new backer. Amazon's role goes beyond the check. A multiyear agreement makes AWS the primary cloud, tunes the models for Trainium chips and distributes them through Bedrock. The company did not disclose valuation or revenue. Proceeds go to research, larger San Francisco and Seoul operations, and new offices in New York and London. Headcount was about 178 in June, up from roughly 58 a year earlier. The previous round was a $50M Series A in 2024, co-led by NEA and Nvidia's NVentures. Reported lifetime funding varies by outlet, from about $150M to more than $200M. The company sells Marengo for video embeddings and Pegasus for turning footage into structured data. It does not compete with generators such as Sora or Veo. For founders, the deal shows a familiar pattern: a cloud provider pays for exclusivity with capital, committed compute and a sales channel. Investor commentary also flags the risk for specialists, which is that Google and OpenAI keep improving native video understanding. Accuracy and enterprise contract growth will matter more than the round size.
