Axiom raises $200M Series A at $1.6B for AI mathematical discovery
The round closed on March 12, 2026, when Axiom made the announcement. The valuation is a post-money figure of $1.6B or more. Greycroft, Madrona, B Capital, Toyota Ventures and Triatomic Capital also joined. Menlo's C.C. Gong took a board seat. The company's October 2025 seed was $64M at a $300M valuation, so the price rose roughly fivefold in five months, and total known funding is now about $264M. Axiom says the money goes toward extending its formal-mathematics work into what it calls Verified AI. That means applying provable correctness to code, cryptography and quantitative finance. The pitch rests on a perfect 12/12 Putnam score and the resolution of a 20-year-old number theory conjecture. Menlo's thesis is that the market is not classic formal verification. It is the chance to check AI-generated code at scale. Similar efforts exist, including Axiomatic AI, which reportedly raised $18M. For founders, investors are now paying frontier-lab prices for narrow reasoning systems with objective, machine-checkable benchmarks. If the product handles AI-written code, verification could become a purchasable layer next to code generation. Teams selling agents into regulated or security-sensitive settings should expect buyers to ask for proofs, not just evals.
